IN-GAME OPENING
The Line on the Mountain.
Why let a field rest? Why clear a firebreak? A short story about land, a village, and the heat a satellite can see.
Beta 3 opens your first New Game with this story, narration, background music and subtitles. Pause or skip it, then replay it from How to play. The evening scan is a game rule.
The video could not play. You can download the MP4 below.
Read the narration
Our home is part of this forest. We tend established fields in cycles.
We grow rice for a season, then rest the field for years. Plants return while we farm another plot.
Today we prepare a rice field together. Ash from plant residues returns some nutrients to the soil.
Before lighting, clear leaves and branches to bare soil. The firebreak interrupts fuel between field and forest.
Embers can still fly across. Read the wind. Let your team help watch the forest edge.
The flames are gone. The ash is still hot. Douse the remaining embers.
In this game, the satellite scans each evening. It sees hot spots, but not the lives beneath them.
Prepare the boundary. Control the fire. Cool the embers. Leave enough cooled ash, and no hot spots before the evening scan.
